Read more at dempseymarketing.comWhen I first got started in social media, I didn’t know anyone. I knew I wanted to start a blog, but how was I going to get anyone to read it? At that time I had less than 200 followers on Twitter, and I was starting to figure out that I would not be able to build a successful blog by myself. I was going to need a network.
By creating a strong network, I have been able to grow my blog from nothing. I now have a vibrant community that has sprung up around me.I have built a great community at my own blog, and it is beyond what I could have hoped for. My blog continues to grow, and so do the opportunities around me.

How To Know If Your SEO Company Is Worth The Money
It seems that every time I turn around I see a blog post about some shady search engine optimization (SEO) tactic being used by a company. In fact a marketing program I just signed up for suggested the use of a service that creates backlinks to your site by commenting on blogs and using your main keywords in the name field. Backlinks help your pages get ranked higher in the search engines and you’d think that having hundreds of comments pointing to your page would help with that. And you’d be right to a certain extent.Read more at dempseymarketing.com

Thank You For Respectfully Disagreeing
How do you handle dissenting opinion on your site? There's only two options, and one isn't an option at all.
I’ve been watching the TV series Mad Men on DVD with my wife. We’re well into season 2 and it is awesome. While it’s very low on the advertising stuff, there is a lot of drama going on. It also appears to accurately depict how any non-white male was treated back in the 50′s – horrible. That part is not awesome, but realistic nonetheless. As they say, we’ve come a long way baby. And I’m very glad we have.Read more at dempseymarketing.com

When To Talk About Yourself In Third Person
On a business website there are times when you talk about yourself in third person and others when you don’t. To decide which way to go, answer the following question:
Are you building a company of one or many?
It isn’t a simple choice, and I’m sure you’ve heard advice on both sides of the fence. One person will tell you to be personable on your about page while another will say to keep your name out of it other than naming you an officer of the company. But let’s make it more fun and throw a monkey wrench into the works – regardless of which you choose, you can always change it later.Read more at dempseymarketing.com

What The Do Not Track Feature On Firefox Means For Your Business
Affiliate and other online marketing will change once "do not track" legislation is put into place. Find out how to protect your business today.
updated my web browser of choice (Firefox) the other day and it was running a bit slow. So I started poking around in the preferences and found this little check box under the privacy settings.
Since Firefox 4 the do not track feature has existed, but now it’s front and center and easily found by everyone. Why the change?
“Do Not Track” legislation has been on the table since 2010, however there are only a number of proposed bills with nothing written into law, yet. However browser makers aren’t taking any chances.

Lessons In Entrepreneurship: Robert Dempsey
What is the biggest lesson you've learned as an entrepreneur? Find out how Robert Dempsey, a 3-time business builder, answered the question and leave a lesson of your own.
As I was drafting this post I chose three big lessons that have helped me to succeed in my previous two businesses as well as my current. For some reason though I was uninspired to write, and put it down for a day. When I woke up this morning my brain had put two and two together, and I realized exactly what the most crucial factor of my success has been.
As you know I’m a recovered alcoholic with more than 11 years of sobriety. This gives me a different perspective on life. Every day not living a life of drunken hell is a blessing. Being able to provide opportunities for my daughter Palamee is a blessing. Being able to support my wife as much as she has supported me over the years is a blessing. I am a very lucky man. But luck is not what I’m talking about. After all luck is where opportunity meets preparation. Rather what I’m talking about is the thing that makes you prepared so that you can see opportunities when they arise.Read more at dempseymarketing.com

Social Media Replacing Traditional Media: Not Going To Happen
Many believe that social media replacing traditional media is a foregone conclusion. It isn't. Rather, integrate it with current marketing.
How many times have you heard, perhaps within the past week or month, that social media replacing traditional media is a foregone conclusion? I’ve read it. Many won’t say it directly, but it’s stated in the way blog posts and magazine articles are written. But here’s the thing – “traditional media” like television, radio and magazines aren’t going anywhere anytime soon.
Ok so you can argue using the newspaper industry example. The issues that industry faces is due to ignorance and stubborn refusal on their part to integrate online media into their mix. Oops, a little late now. Or is it? So far the New York Times has signed up more than 200,000 paying digital subscribers (source). They aren’t dead just yet.Read more at dempseymarketing.com
