Is Blog Publishing Time Irrelevant?

With the ability for a blog post to reach tens of thousands on Twitter at all times of the day, is the time you publish your post no longer relevant?

With the ability to reach a huge audience using social media, and the way people use social media, has the time at which you publish your blog posts become irrelevant?

Let’s take a look at this, starting with some charty goodness.

From the beginning of this blog, I’ve posted 3 times per week. I did this because I’ve done daily blogging and it can get tiring. And knowing that generally speaking my audiences on other blogs are mainly in the United States and on each coast, I’ve been posting at 8 AM EST.

Now I’ve attended the HubSpot webinars that show lot’s of data on when to tweet and when to post. However your numbers are your numbers and mine are mine. So let’s see what mine say, and then I’ll show you how to get yours.

Stop Wasting Time Commenting On Blogs

If you're commenting on the wrong blogs then you're wasting your time. Which are the right ones? Well, that all depends on who your customer is.

Blog commenting is great for many things – networking with blog owners and their audience, building backlinks, and building authority. However this strategy can bite you in the ass in a heartbeat if you miss one vital component.

That vital component? Commenting on blogs that your customers frequent.

This assumes however that you know who your customer is. Many don’t.

In case you’re in that boat, or wondering if you got it right, let’s look at how you define who your customer really is.

Time to get personal on social networks

Social Networking: You Better Start Getting Personal

Social Networking: You Better Start Getting Personal

Beach Flip FailOver the years the big social networking sites like Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn, aka “The Big Three” (as I call them), have experienced growth in the double digits. However all good things must come to an end, and so it is for these huge percentages.

A recent eMarketer report says that these heavies are now at the saturation point with certain age groups. Here’s some charty goodness for those of you who, like me, enjoy charts and pictures, preferably together.

Unless you think that social media is a complete waste of your time, what does the slowdown in growth mean to you and your ability to use social networking to generate business?

Is article marketing still viable?

I Accept Your Non-Challenge Alex Whalley

I Accept Your Non-Challenge Alex Whalley

Challenging ChildOh yeah it’s on like Donkey Kong my friend! And whether Alex knows it or not, I’ve accepted his challenge.

And what challenge did he not make that I’m accepting? Let me tell you.

I Accept Your Non-Challenge Alex Whalley

Challenging ChildOh yeah it’s on like Donkey Kong my friend! And whether Alex knows it or not, I’ve accepted his challenge.

And what challenge did he not make that I’m accepting? Let me tell you.

A few days ago Alex announced his 30 Day Article Marketing Challenge. Over the next 30 days he’s going to see just how much traffic he can get to a niche site of his using nothing but article marketing.

What makes this super interesting is that Google recently planted a heavy backhand to many article sites, terming them content farms. Some rightly deserved it, others just got smacked. Either way it’s brought into question the viability of article marketing for driving traffic to producing backlinks to affiliate marketing sites.

Timing Is Everything

I applaud Alex on the timeliness of his self-induced challenge. And it got me thinking.

I have two niche sites I’m putting resources into. Both are in the health and wellness niche, and are set up the same way, meaning the flow through the sites are the same. The second site is doing much better than the other, despite the resources I put into the first.

And here is where my acceptance of Alex’s non-challenge comes in.

Getting Google ranking with no content

When updating my rankings for one of my niche sites I got some very surprising results – I started ranking with practically zero content on the site.

Intriguing? I was surprised. And the results on this site are much better and faster than another of my niche sites where I have backlinks and a lot of on-site content.
